In Ayurveda, the tradition holds that each of us is a mix of three doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and leans toward one. Pitta is the fiery one, associated with heat and metabolism, and the Ayurvedic kitchen has long paired it with cooling, sweet, and floral flavors. This caffeine-free blend sits in that tradition: a tart, floral, aromatic cup made in the spirit of the botanicals Pitta has long been paired with.

In the cup it leans bright and floral. Hibiscus brings a tart, cranberry-like edge and a deep red color, rose petals add a soft floral note, and peppermint gives it a clean, cooling finish. Underneath, licorice root lends a natural sweetness with no sugar added, and a little ginger adds a gentle warmth that keeps the blend from turning sharp. A note on the licorice and hibiscus: both are assertive. The hibiscus is genuinely tart, and the licorice is deeply sweet with a long finish. Together they make a bold, fruity-sweet cup, not a delicate one.

It is good hot or cooled. Steep five to seven minutes in freshly boiled water for a hot cup, or brew it strong, let it cool, and pour it over ice for a tart, rosy iced tea in summer. No caffeine, so it works any time of day.

Caffeine-free. Vegan. No salt, no sugar, no added flavors.

Common Questions

What does Pitta Balance taste like?

Bold and fruity-sweet. Hibiscus gives it a tart, cranberry-like edge, rose adds a soft floral note, and peppermint brings a cooling finish. Licorice root makes it sweet with no sugar added, and a little ginger adds gentle warmth. It is an assertive cup rather than a delicate one.

Does it have caffeine? When should I drink it?

It is caffeine-free, so it works any time of day, morning or evening. There is no tea leaf in it, just rose, peppermint, hibiscus, licorice root, and ginger.

Is this tea only for Pitta types?

No. In Ayurveda this blend belongs to the family of teas traditionally associated with Pitta, but anyone can drink it. On its own it is simply a tart, floral, caffeine-free cup with a licorice sweetness, good for anyone who likes a bold hibiscus-and-rose flavor.

Can I drink it iced?

Yes, and it is excellent that way. Brew it strong, let it cool, and pour it over ice. The hibiscus and rose make a deep red, tart iced tea that holds its flavor well over ice in summer.
